THOR star Chris Hemsworth is set to put a hammer through his Byron Bay estate with a renovation worth more than $8 million.
Less than a week after filming for Thor: Ragnarok wrapped up on Gold Coast, the Aussie hunk has turned his mind to remodelling his secluded Broken Head property.
A development application to make alterations and additions to the Broken Head Rd locale owned by Hemsworth and Spanish-born wife Elsa Medianu – known professionally as Elsa Pataky – was submitted to Byron Shire Council on November 2.
The application, which has not yet been assessed, pegs the renovation at a cool $8.778 million.
It outlines plans for the demolition of the existing house and structures on the 4.2ha property and building of a new swimming pool.
It is understood a Sydney architectural firm has been engaged to do the redesign of the home where Hemsworth lives with his Fast and the Furious franchise star wife and their three children – India Rose, 4, and twin boys Tristan and Sasha, 2.
Hemsworth and Pataky traded their Malibu pad for the $7 million property with views of Broken Head beach in September, 2014.
It was the first time the Byron Bay estate had been on the market since 1990, when it was bought for $1.2 million.
According to CoreLogic RP Data, the existing home was built in 2003.
There are several other structures on the block.
The development application is expected to go on public exhibition in the coming weeks.
Hemsworth and Pataky have previously said they shunned the celebrity life in the US for an idyllic life in Byron Bay, free of photographers.
Thor: Ragnarok is due for release on November 3 next year.
Joe Davidson, who lodged the development application, declined to comment on the specifics of the renovation.
