Dangerous drivers are littering Sydney’s roads.

There has been surge in the number of offences for driving on a suspended or disqualified licence.

According to the latest data from the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research, these types of offences tallied up to 19,955 in 2021, which is up 1100 more than the previous year.

The highest number of offenders came from Blacktown, followed closely behind by Canterbury-Bankstown and the Central Coast, then Cumberland ranking fourth.

The Daily Telegraph has compiled a list of ten of the most shocking driving offences.

JEREMY RAMZY, CRANEBROOK

Western Sydney tradie Jeremy Ramzy was given a final warning in January this year for driving while suspended.

The 33-year-old water-proofer’s licence had already been suspended for six months in August 2021 after he was caught speeding at 150km per hour in an 80km per hour zone.

Court documents reveal Ramzy “has a huge traffic history” and had been suspended and disqualified from driving “on a number of occasions”.

The court heard he was serious about not reoffending again over fears of being sent to prison, leading him to complete the traffic offenders’ program and trying to sell his car.

JESSICA NGUYEN, MILLER

P-plater Jessica Nguyen from Miller in Western Sydney has made headlines recently for racking up over $8k worth of fines in less than two years.

The 19-year-old has been suspended from driving twice and has been issued with $8169 in fines for 12 separate offences on the road.

SHAUN THORPE, ILLAWARRA

Teenager Shaun Thorpe was sentenced to two years in prison after leading a reckless 100kmh high-speed police chase across the Shoalhaven in October last year.

The 19-year-old was convicted of seven offences, including speeding in excess of 170kmh, driving while disqualified, three counts of possessing a prohibited drug and possessing a prohibited weapon without a permit.

MASON SHEAFFE, GOULBURN

Months after driving off with a police officer’s arm trapped in his car window, and returning a positive breath test, P-plater Mason Sheaffe led cops on a zigzagging high-speed pursuit through a rural town in Goulburn using a stolen car.

Last year, the 18-year-old was charged with 18 offences including stealing a car, negligent driving and failing to comply with Covid restrictions and police directives.

The young apprentice carpenter had his licence suspended.

DANIEL GOGACZ, MOUNT PRITCHARD

After being released from jail six months prior for a driving offence, Daniel Gogacz from Mount Pritchard was jailed again for another nine months.

Police caught Gogacz driving his work ute three times in a three-week period without a licence.

While he was disqualified from driving, the 36-year-old carpenter was involved in a police pursuit and crashed into another car after failing to stop at after a crash.

Gogacz was convicted and disqualified from driving for another 12 months.

STEVEN HALLIGAN, PARRAMATTA

Steven Halligan was banned from driving after leading a destructive car chase through Sydney’s inner west in 2020.

The 39-year-old hit several parked cars, drove on the wrong side of the road and went through red lights as he was being chased by police.

He pleaded guilty to 14 offences including speeding more than 10km/h over the speed limit, not stopping during a police pursuit, three counts of negligent driving and two counts of possesses a prohibited drug.

In February this year, he “brazenly” drove to the police station to report on bail despite the ban still being in place.

Halligan’s criminal history is said to be filled with driving offences over 31 pages, according to the courts.

JAMES PARISI-YACOUB, FRENCHS FOREST

James Parisi-Yacoub was already disqualified from driving until 2031 when he led police on a 160kmh chase for 10km in July 2019.

During the ordeal, the then 26-year-old joiner also drove on the wrong side of the road and police had to call off the pursuit due to safety concerns.

Parisi-Yacoub was later arrested at a house in Carlingford and pleaded guilty to one count of not stopping during a police pursuit, driving recklessly, and two counts of driving while disqualified.

He charged with another disqualified driving offence in December 2019 and jailed for 15 months.

DELMA PIKE, BELMONT

Delma Pike, who was disqualified from driving until 2031, was caught behind the wheel again in 2020 and charged with high-range drink driving.

A member of the public spotted the then 58-year-old swerving in streets in Charlestown before turning onto the Pacific Highway and stopping in a hotel car park.

As police approached Pike, she failed to produce a licence and blew a BAC reading of 0.200 – four times over the legal driving limit.

NEIL HUTCHINSON, MARDI

Mardi man Neil Hutchison crushed three women between several parked cars in a Central Coast car park.

A court heard Hutchison was driving his unregistered van to purchase alcohol before reversing it “at speed” into two young teenage sisters, then 14 and 18, who were lifting groceries into their car.

The older sister’s pelvis was shattered in four places, causing her to be in a wheelchair for six weeks and spending eight months “fighting to walk again”.

The impact of the smash caused another 40-year-old woman, who was trying to unclip her toddler from his seat, to become pinned against the car.

Hutchison was convicted after pleading guilty to two counts of aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, being a disqualified driver behind the wheel of an unregistered, uninsured car and high-range drink driving.

He was sentenced in July 2019 to seven years jail with a non-parole period of four years and eight months and was disqualified from driving until 2030.
