Pressure mounts on developers amid Tasmania's housing crisis

GREEN and brownfield developments are popping up all over Tasmania, with many approvals in place, with only a developer needed for the go-ahead.
From potential eco-resorts at Strahan to hundreds of housing lots up for sale in Launceston, to lots at Hobart’s The Escarpment, here are 20+ developments slated for Tasmania.

A 33-lot, 3.01ha development is for sale in one of Hobart’s fastest-growing government areas. The property at 30 Wolstenholme Drive, Sorell is a development application approved subdivision with views of Mt Wellington, within walking distance to the Woolies complex.

Agents Knight Frank say it is zoned General Residential under the Sorell Interim Planning Scheme 2015.

The property is for sale by Expressions of Interest, closing September 10.

The first stage of the contentious Macquarie Point Development has 8797sq m of mixed use zoned land in Hobart’s CBD on the market.

The three building envelopes contain 6676sq m and the overall development includes an exhibition venue, an arts and culture precinct, a dedicated Antarctic and Science precinct accommodation, tourism infrastructure and a fifty per cent allocation for public open space.

Knight Frank, Hobart are taking expressions of interest for the site now.

Selling agents Knight Frank say with the undersupply of residential dwellings in Hobart and the Northern suburbs, it is an excellent time to buy.

A 62-lot residential subdivision in Burnie is on the market for $900,000 by mortgagee.

Civil works have already begun on stage one of the project, which has three stages slated.

Agents Knight Frank say the residential market for both land and house sales continue to strengthen in the Burnie area, with house sales increasing by 37 per cent in the past year.
