Your ultimate guide to Black Friday shopping

Black Friday is here, with outlets around town offering must-not-miss bargains. But the specials have brought about serious traffic woes on Melbourne’s roads. Here are the worst affected areas.

The five best Black Friday buys at Northland

Black Friday has become one of the busiest shopping days of the year and Emporium is expecting thousands of bargain hunters through the doors.

But the sales mean extra traffic on Melbourne’s roads and there is serious congestion building around major shopping centres.

Cars are banking up on Warrigal and Dandenong Rds, with Chadstone currently the worst affected outlet.

Roads around Chadstone are far worse than they normally would be on a Friday afternoon and VicRoads is warning shoppers to prepare for significant delays.

There is also heavy traffic around Highpoint at Maribyrnong, Doncaster Shopping Centre and the exit ramps into DFO Essendon.

If you are willing to brave the traffic, the Herald Sun has scoured some of our biggest shopping centres, including Chadstone, Highpoint, Northland, The Glen and Emporium, to bring you the best deals.

Here’s some of the best buys you can pick up for under $100 as sales hit their peak.

WHAT TO BUY AT CHADSTONE

The Fashion Capital will have more than 250 exclusive offers up for grabs and if you spend $250 you get a free espresso martini or soft serve ice-cream at the Noir Bar & Lounge.

More than 45 traffic controllers will be scattered outside Chadstone on Friday to help shoppers with parking demands and those looking for a more premium experience will be able to take advantage of the centre’s valet service.

BEST BARGAINS AT NORTHLAND

At Northland more than 80 retailers offer some of their biggest discounts across a plethora of products.

Centre stylist Daniel Paciocco says with a variety of discounts and in-store incentives, there are festive bargains available for the whole family.

TOP BUYS FROM THE GLEN

The Glen, which has recently completed an incredible redevelopment, is home to 240 stores and more than 3000 carparks.

The Glen stylist Karinda Mutabazi says the Black Friday sales are set to be bigger and better this year as more stores add deeper discounts for shoppers.

HIGHPOINT’S BEST VALUE BUYS

Those looking to save their pennies on Christmas gifts will find bargains at Highpoint, with more than 200 exclusive offers.

And it’s not just Black Friday, the bargains will still be around on Saturday too.

WHAT TO GRAB AT EMPORIUM

Lacoste, Calvin Klein and Viktoria and Woods are just some of the brands among the Black Friday Emporium bargains.

Emporium stylist Simone Farrugia says Black Friday is rivalling Boxing Day as one of the busiest and best days to bag a bargain.
