Mr Waipouri was charged with manslaughter on Monday following a police investigation where he was remanded to appear in court for a filing hearing.
During that hearing on Tuesday, his lawyer Joseph Adamo revealed the 56-year-old was on prescribed medication after a double heart bypass in 2021 and that he was diagnosed with depression and anxiety.
Magistrate Abigail Burchill ordered that police prosecutors provide the full hand-up brief to defence by April 8.
The matter was adjourned to May 20 where it will be listed for a committal mention and case conference.
