“Adrian is an amazing hairdresser, dry cut specialist. I’m so lucky to have found him,” says Cindy.

“He always has a smile and he gives my curly hair some sass. I gets compliments! Salon space is alive,” says Chrissie.

“Frank is generous and honest, loves to chat,” he says.

Fellow long-termer Brent says “Cicca” is the perfect mix of “fashionista, stylist and football expert”.

Adam puts it simply: “Best bloke in Australia, and has provided me with an infinite amount of free drinks over the years.”

And Vesna says: “His hands are made of gold, after you see him you look like a movie star.”

Indeed, the award-winning salon, run by Ciccone and his wife Helen since 1996, also has an incredible list of celebrity clients on its books, having styled the likes of Slash from Guns N Roses, INXS, Rebel Wilson and the Socceroos.

They have even been the official hairdressers for the ARIAs.

But they treat their everyday customers like royalty, too.

“The salon gives you a great big hug as soon as you walk inside”, says Sally.

Life is one long rainbow for Mykey O’Halloran.

The vibrant colour expert is living the dream, masterfully transforming clients’ hair into out-of-this-world unicorn manes, all day, every day.

O’Halloran worked at Fitzroy’s Fur Hairdressing and Cherry Bomb in Collingwood, then ran his business out of Collingwood’s Little Rebel Barbershop and Blondies of Melbourne in Fitzroy North before moving to Preston a year ago, where he shares a space with Deadly Nails.

He’s also been named one of Melbourne’s best hairdressers.

“It’s blowing my mind, it’s an honour — I feel really supported by my clients and people that like my work,” he says.

Young hairdresser Jorge Gogonis and his salon, Komotis.J, have already been named Melbourne’s best — so it’s only natural they’re the best in the north, too.

The 25-year-old followed his dream to open his own business a year and a half ago, and is reaping the rewards.

“It (means) the world to me, just finally to be recognised for something. I just want to show the world I love my job,” the emotional stylist says.
