A double drink-driver with a blatant disregard for the law was caught up in an alcohol-filled road rage incident just 11 days after he had been banned by a court for his first booze bust.

Tinagaran Kerishnan — who has only been in Australia for three years and has already racked up a terrible traffic history — completely ignored a licence disqualification imposed last year, driving to Mildura where he seen having an altercation with another motorist.

Kerishnan had first appeared at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on October 4 last year, pleading guilty to a raft of driving offences and getting a 14-month ban.

He was back there again yesterday, pleading guilty to more charges.

The court heard that on October 15 police were called by passers-by after they saw a white Ford Falcon stopped in the middle of a Mildura roundabout.

They saw two men having a heated discussion — one of them being Kerishnan — before both drivers returned to their vehicles and drove off.

The 25-year-old tried to evade justice by jumping in the back seat of his vehicle, pretending he wasn’t the driver.

Officers didn’t fall for that stupid stunt, and tested him for alcohol. He blew .168 — more than three times the legal limit.

In court his lawyer said he accepted he should not have been driving that day and was remorseful.

His initial ban was for another drunk-driving incident, where he was involved in a crash because he had failed to give way. That time he blew .115.

Magistrate Julie O’Donnell said he was very close to going to jail.

“He’s driving at a level which puts the community in danger,” Ms O’Donnell said.

“This was his second offence within days (of being banned); he doesn’t show a great deal of insight into his offending.

“He needs to take this order very seriously if he wants to avoid a jail term.”

Kerishnan was given a 12-month community corrections order, and he must do 100 hours of unpaid work and have alcohol abuse counselling.

He was also convicted and had his licence disqualified for 32 months.
