Grandmother $4 million richer after buying winning Tattslotto QuickPick in Mooroolbark

OWNERS of a lotto shop in the Yarra Ranges are “thrilled” after selling their second winning division one ticket within weeks.

A MOOROOLBARK retiree is $4 million richer after winning division one Tattslotto.

The woman said her heart was racing after discovering the windfall from the Saturday draw which would help pay off her childrens’ mortgages.

The grandmother, who wanted to remain anonymous, bought the winning 12-game QuickPick from the Mooroolbark Lotto Centre on Brice Avenue — the second the shop has sold in three months.

“It’s unreal. It has taken me all day yesterday to get my head around it,” the woman said.

“I was in bed and at about 4am I heard a little tingle on the iPad and I thought ‘oh that could be an email from Tattslotto with a win, I’ll have to check in the morning’.”

She said the win would be life-changing for her family.

“I’m fortunate that I own my own house and I am very comfortable, but my kids struggle and work really hard to pay their mortgages,” she said.

Mooroolbark Lotto Centre's Wendy Chen and Helen Zhang sold the winning ticket.

“To be able to see their faces when I told them I will pay their mortgages for them — well, it put a smile on my face.”

The grandmother said she would organise a family holiday.

“The kids even told me ‘Mum, that’s it! You are getting a new car. I don’t care what you say, you need a new car.’ So I suppose I’ll get one of those too,” she said.

“We all went out for dinner as a family last night and celebrated. It was just a lovely way to celebrate.”

Mooroolbark Lotto Centre owner Wendy Chen said she was thrilled to have sold another division one winning entry.

“I can’t believe it. We only took over the shop three months ago and we’ve already sold two division one winning entries.” she said.

“It’s just great for us and great for our customers.”
