The winning unregistered ticket was bought from Scole Lotto & News on Sydney Road in Brunswick for Thursday night’s Powerball jackpot.
Owner of Scole Lotto & News Sam Misiano said he was thrilled his family business had sold the lucky ticket.
“It’s fantastic, exciting’s not the word ... it’s out of this world,” he told the Sunday Herald Sun.
“We’ve had a couple of division two wins but we’ve never had anything like this, it just goes to show.
“I hope it’s one of our regular customers, I really hope!”

Mr Misiano and his wife opened the store three years ago because they wanted to make people happy.
“My wife and I thought we’d do something to make people happy, it’s the honest truth, and now it’s been absolutely worth it,” he said.
“That’s what life is about, it’s about fun and making other people happy.
“It’s not even our money but we’re so excited — the thrill of selling something like that is unbelievable.”
The six winning numbers were 32, 7, 5, 34, 38 and 11, plus the Powerball of 12.
The win is the highest Australian lottery jackpot in 12 months but more than 48 hours since the draw, the winner is yet to claim the prize.
Tatts spokeswoman Bronnie Spencer said punters should check their tickets.
“Imagine how different your weekend plans would be knowing you were $55 million richer,” she said.
“If you discover you’re holding the winning entry, hold on tight to that ticket and phone 131 868 as soon as possible.”
Melbourne’s north is no stranger to big wins with a semi-retired Mill Park couple winning Powerball’s $6 million division one prize in November.
