Crashes in Knoxfield and Sassafras kill two, leave one critical
It was a horror weekend on the road in Melbourne’s outer east. Two men died in separate incidents, while a teenage boy remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Two men are dead and a 15-year-old boy continues to fight for life following a horror few hours on the roads in Melbourne’s outer east.
Drivers died at the scenes of two “completely unrelated” fatal crashes in Knoxfield and Sassafras in the early hours of Saturday morning, while a passenger was also critically injured.
The first man was killed when he was riding a motorcycle that collided with a car on Ferntree Gully Rd, Knoxfield about 12.25am.
The 28-year-old Wantirna South man was travelling alongside the car when the collision happen, according to Knox highway patrol Acting Sergeant Gavin Nash.
The driver of the car, a 33-year-old Dandenong North woman and the passenger, a 34-year-old Ferntree Gully man, were uninjured and stopped at the scene to help.
Act Sgt Nash said police were investigating if speed was a factor in the incident.
He said the horrific incident that followed it was “completely unrelated”, with both crashes occurring during clear weather.

Police working the night shift in the outer east were then called to Mount Dandenong Tourist Rd, Sassafras, after a car slammed into a power pole about 4am.
The driver, an 18-year-old Ferntree Gully man, was killed at the scene.
Belgrave police Senior Constable Paul Ackerman said the passenger, a 15-year-old boy, who was flown to hospital, is still in a critical condition.
He said police were still investigating why the driver lost control of the car.
Sen Constable Ackerman had the devastating task of attending to both crashes, saying it was “not your typical shift”.
