Driver injured, trapped after driving over embankment on Mountain Highway, The Basin
A man has been trapped in his car for more than 45 minutes after he crashed 30m down an embankment in the Dandenong Ranges. He was eventually freed and flown to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A man has been trapped in his car for more than 45 minutes after he drove off the side of the Mountain Highway in The Basin.
Emergency services found the man trapped in his car with non-life-threatening injuries 30m down an embankment beside the road, after the crash occurred about 6.50am this morning.
The Mountain Highway was closed between Mount Dandenong Tourist Rd, Sassafras, and Claremont Ave, The Basin, but has since reopened.
Knox highway patrol Acting Senior Sergeant David McIlfatrick said the driver was the only person in the car when it went off the road.

He said the man was trapped for some time before he was flown to hospital in a stable condition after 8am.
It has not been determined why his car went off the road.
The Basin CFA, Monbulk Rescue and Knox SES all turned out to help.
The Basin CFA captain Corey Schmutter said they found the car about 30m down the embankment and it took 45 minutes to an hour to free the man.
