Maroondah Highway, Coldstream: woman crashes allegedly stolen BMW, hides in front garden
A woman tried to hide in someone’s front garden in Coldstream after she crashed an allegedly stolen car and legged it, allegedly not stopping to check on the other driver.

An alleged car thief was found cowering in a front yard after she allegedly caused a two-car crash at a busy Coldstream intersection.
Yarra Ranges highway patrol Sergeant Neil Campbell said the 32-year-old was driving an allegedly stolen white BMW when she allegedly slammed into a car waiting at the intersection of Maroondah Highway and Killara Rd just after 2pm Wednesday.
Sgt Campbell said the driver had tried to turn left from the highway into Killara Rd “at speed”, and had driven onto the wrong side of the road, hitting the other car, whose driver was waiting to turn onto the highway.

He said the woman then ran from the scene.
Paramedics attended the crash but the woman driving the other car was uninjured.
Police searched the area and found the driver of the allegedly stolen car hiding in the front yard of a house about 500m from the crash site an hour after the incident.
Sgt Campbell said the BMW had been allegedly stolen the week earlier.
