A GROUP of Croydon neighbours fear a proposed childcare centre on Dorset Rd could lead to traffic and safety chaos.
A developer wants to build a 120-capacity centre on the corner of Dorset Rd and Lindisfarne Ave, with an application before Maroondah Council.
The application, which has received more than 70 submissions, was discussed at a planning meeting on October 10 which attracted more than 50 people.
The developer wants to knock down two houses to build the centre, which would be the third near a corner site on Dorset Rd if approved.

Plans show the centre’s carpark would have less than 25 spaces and would only be accessible via Lindisfarne Ave.
Jenny Schutz, who lives three houses away, said the proposed location was “a highly dangerous spot”.
“The through traffic is going to be ridiculous, there will be parents dropping off kids and 120 cars every morning and afternoon,” she said.
“How does the rubbish truck come along and collect our bins when everyone is going to be parked out the front of our houses?”
In a statement, Maroondah Mayor Nora Lamont said the council was “reviewing the application and the suitability of this site for the purpose of a child care centre in context with its surrounds.”
Cr Lamont said the council would consider any traffic and safety impact and make a decision in due course.
The Dorset Rd application comes after Maroondah Council approved another large childcare centre in a busy Ringwood East street last month.
Two homes, at 30 and 32 Grey St, will be demolished to make way for the 117-capacity centre, which will be located opposite Maroondah Hospital.
The hospital is about to begin construction for its new multi-level carpark, with residents fearing further congestion in the street.
