A teenager has been charged after a puppy was allegedly stolen from a Mooroolbark home 16 days ago — but there is no sign of the young rottweiler.
The development comes as the distressed owner continues to plead for the public’s help to find the now 10-week-old puppy.
Eastern Region Crime detective Sergeant Tristan Snow said police arrested a 19-year-old Burnside Heights man in a public area of Collingwood on the evening of Thursday, February 6 in relation to alleged theft.
Sgt Snow said the man had since been charged with theft of a live animal and had been bailed to appear at Ringwood Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
“Unfortunately, the dog hasn’t yet been recovered,” he said.
Sgt Snow said police were hopeful they would find the puppy, but realistically were unsure if they would.
He said he could understand the frustration of the owner, who WAS desperate to get ‘Little Man’ back.
