A terrified woman was confronted by a man who’d just ransacked her home and stolen
almost $10,000 worth of jewellery and money.
The brazen thief pushed against her front door as she tried to get in, swearing at the woman.
“I was coming back from work and he was at the door when I was trying to open it, and he told me to basically to f-off,” Leni, who didn’t want her surname used, said
“He wasn’t allowing me to turn my key.”
Leni said when she left that morning her home was “double bolted, locked and secured” but the burglar managed to smash his way in.
She has been forced to rent a room elsewhere because her West St house and roof were so badly damaged in the December 30 break-in.
Leni said her house was turned into a “tsunami zone” and she was now living in fear.
“I can’t live in my house, I could see the stars from my room,” she said.
“I’ve always felt safe in my home and I’ve always felt safe with my neighbours, but (now) it feels vulnerable.
The break-in occurred about 7pm and the burglar turned the whole place upside down, searching every cupboard, ruining cooking utensils and even taking food from the freezer.
Police have released images of red-beanie-wearing man they want to speak to in connection with the break-in. CCTV footage shows a man, wearing a bright red hat, scaling the fence of a West St house with a bag of allegedly stolen goods.

“They went through every single cupboard, the freezer and fridge, nothing was spared,” Leni said.
She said it was a “bitter” way to end 2019.
“He’s not exactly slim, he’s got a certain look so people should know him,” Leni said.
