Coronavirus Whittlesea: Epping, Thomastown have highest active cases

Epping continues to be Whittlesea’s coronavirus hotspot , with new postcode specific data revealing the suburbs with the highest number of cases.
Epping’s top spot comes as no surprise given the devastating toll at Epping Gardens Aged Care facility .
Epping had 160 active cases as of August 13, up from 152 on August 6.
Mernda and Doreen (postcode 3754) recorded the biggest jump in active cases, with 19 – there were 78 cases in the suburb as of August 13, up from 59 on August 6.
Mill Park now has 72 active cases, up 64, and South Morang has 57, up from 46.
But it was better news in Wollert where the number of active cases dropped by 5, from 50 to 45.
According to figures from the Department of Health and Human Services, there were 507 active cases of coronavirus across Whittlesea on Monday, August 17.
There have been 205 cases linked to Epping Gardens Aged Care, 205 cases linked to Bertocchi Smallgoods Thomastown and 33 cases linked to Inghams in Thomastown.
Other past confirmed coronavirus cases in Whittlesea include staff members from Northern Hospital, staff members from Epping Costco, a staff member from the Pandora store at Epping Plaza, a student from RMIT Bundoora and several cases at schools, including Epping Views Primary School.
