Costco country manager Patrick Noone said the staff member last worked at its Epping Warehouse on July 11, and Costco was taking all the necessary precautions to ensure its employees and members were safe.
When asked if any other staff members or customers had since been diagnosed with coronavirus, Mr Noone said there had been no subsequent incidents.
“On this day that the employee was working, they were wearing a protective mask and gloves while performing their duties, as a standard practice for our employees,” he said.
“As a company, as soon as we were made aware by the employee of their diagnosis, we immediately responded by informing warehouse staff so that immediate appropriate action could be taken.”
Mr Noone said this included the entire warehouse being deeply disinfected and sanitised, as well as continuing to undertake additional cleaning and sanitation protocols.
Costco opened in Epping in 2018.
