It could be Melbourne’s coolest job this summer — and with thousands of perfect, ocean-like waves pumping past every day, it would be easy to forget you’re even working.
Australia’s first surf park based in Tullamarine is now recruiting more than 60 dedicated people to join their team.
Urbnsurf — expected to open to the public this summer — are on the hunt for lifeguards, surf coaches, experienced facilities technicians and customer service “legends” to come on board.

Located in Airport Drive 16km north of the city, the 2ha crystal-clear lagoon — about the same size as the MCG — can pump out 1000 waves each hour ranging from half a metre to 2m high.
Founder Andrew Ross said being a surfer wasn’t essential to landing a role.
“We are seeking talented and dedicated people of all ages, genders and backgrounds to join the crew,” he said.
“Being a surfer is not a prerequisite — but loving the outdoors and delivering exceptional customer experiences is a must.
“Our goal is to have our guests walk away from a day spent at Urbnsurf Melbourne stoked, whether they’ve ridden their very first wave, scored perfect barrels with their friends or shared a delicious meal with their family in a unique and relaxing setting.”

Mr Ross said surfing was often limited by geography, weather conditions and having the time to chase waves — but Urbnsurf unlocked those limitations in a safe, convenient and accessible location.
“It’s the perfect supplement for Melburnians, who have to travel hours to surf on the coasts, and will be a must-do for interstate and international visitors,” he said.
Staff will be responsible for sharing the “stoke”, keeping guests safe and helping local surfers and visitors surf more.
The park can host up to 84 surfers per hour, from learners and beginners to experienced riders and elite athletes.
