A pair of thieves stole a ute and two shotguns from a north Victorian home in a brazen daytime burglary, with the weapons yet to be recovered, a court has heard.
Anthony Firebrace, 38, and Brianna Oliver, 31, faced Bendigo County Court on Wednesday over their involvement in a Stanhope burglary in early 2023.
The court heard Firebrace, born in Shepparton, ransacked a home while its occupants were away on the morning of January 6 while Oliver, from Echuca, kept watch in her car nearby.
Firebrace took from the property two shotguns, ammunition, $6000 worth of jewellery, keys to a gun safe, and a Mazda ute.
The vehicle was caught on CCTV driving to Rushworth, as was Oliver’s car.
Police later found a portable fridge from the ute in Oliver’s car, and recovered the Mazda from a caravan park in Harrietville.
The court heard the firearms had not been found.
Firebrace - who was on bail at the time of the offending - earlier pleaded guilty to one charge of burglary, three of theft, and one of possessing a firearm in a contravention of a prohibition order.
He was sentenced to three years’ in prison with a non-parole period of two years and two months, and with 852 days already served.
Oliver pleaded guilty to one charge of burglary and two of theft, and received a two-year community correction order.
