CAR crimes continue to cause havoc in Maribyrnong, according to the latest figures from the Crime Statistics Agency.
Statistics from the year to June 2018 showed stealing from a vehicle had the highest number of offences, with 1382 incidents.
Vehicle theft ranked in third with 388 offences, which is a 7 per cent increase from 2017.

Maribyrnong Acting Inspector Belinda Vincent told the Leader a vehicle was stolen from the Maribyrnong Police Service Area (PSA) every day.
Meanwhile, there were about three to five thefts from a car each day.
Ms Vincent said in these cases, one in three vehicles was found to be unlocked.
“Vehicle theft has been a statewide issue over the years,” she said.
“[It] fluctuates from time to time but is generally relatively constant.
“The advancement of technology is making vehicles harder to steal and we are seeing a reduction in the number of vehicles stolen.”
Overall there were 6754 criminal incidents in Maribyrnong in 2018, which is a 4 per cent drop from 2017.
