Daniel Prevedello receives bail after appealing four month prison term for coward punching an off-duty cop

An Irymple brute was “pretty wild” when he attacked an off-duty police officer in a hotel beer garden leaving him unconscious with serious injuries.

An Irymple thug who attacked an off-duty police officer in the beer garden of a pub, leaving him unconscious with serious injuries, has appealed his jail sentence and received bail.

Daniel Prevedello has strict bail conditions, including being barred from any licensed premises and a curfew of 9pm.

Prevedello, 37, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to assault, along with some firearms offences, at Mildura Magistrates Court.

The court heard on the night of August 19, 2023 at 11pm, Prevedello attacked the off-duty police officer in the beer garden of the Merbein Hotel following a verbal altercation by punching him from behind in the right temple, while slinging him to the ground, leaving him unconscious.

Prevedello’s brother pulled him off of the victim and fled the Merbein Hotel immediately.

The victim was left with severe lacerations to his right eye, swelling and excessive bleeding and fractures to the nose, and is still recovering from the incident.

Prevedello was arrested the following day and admitted to assaulting the victim. He added he was “pretty wild,” on the night in question and felt “pretty s – t,” about the incident afterwards.

He was sentenced to four months in jail.

On Friday, Prevedello appealed the sentence and received bail.

Prevedello will return to court on November 11.
