Sheridan Coulthard remembered fondly by friends, family and drag racing community

The deaths of a young Moama woman and an 11-year-old boy in a tragic car crash has rocked the local drag racing community.

Family, friends and the wider drag racing community are grieving the loss of loved one Sheridan Coulthard, who sadly died in a tragic car crash in Echuca on Sunday.

Ms Coulthard was a passenger, along with an 11-year-old boy who also died..

Ms Coulthard and her family has been fondly remembered by Lamattina Top Fuel Racing, a nitro racing team based in Australia.

In an emotional Facebook post, the racing team acknowledged the tragic circumstances surrounding Ms Coulthard’s death, before giving words of support to Ms Coulthard’s immediate family, who “are and forever will be, a part of the LTFR family”.

There has been an outpouring of emotion and support for the Coulthard family, with Wayne Downes saying “the Australian drag racing family is behind you, stay strong and remember the best times”.

Ms Coulthard is survived by parents Gavin and Vera, as well as brother Jackson.

The alleged driver of the car, Jake Cartledge, suffered minor injuries and assisted police with their inquiries following the incident.

He has since been charged with two counts of dangerous driving and will front the Echuca Magistrates’ Court on January 23.

Police will allege the car was travelling along the Murray Valley Highway near Echuca when it left the road and struck a tree near Mt Terrick Road just after 12.30pm on Sunday.

The Victorian road toll for 2024 sits at 10.
