The crispy and crunchy hot chips from Tuck Shop Take Away have been named the best in Melbourne.

Owner Clinton Serex said the chips were made from scratch, using potatoes from the Spud Sisters in Ballarat, fifth generation potato farmers.

“We hand cut them ourselves, and they’re triple cooked; boiled, blanched and fried,” he said.

“They’re never frozen and taste like real potato.”

The skin is left on the potatoes and the chips over covered in a good quality sea salt.

“They’re crunchy, and not all are a uniform shape, with lots of crispies at the bottom of the bag,” he said.

“We’ve been named the best chips in Melbourne quite a few times.”
