A notorious Melbourne hoon, who was previously jailed for hitting and killing a mother-of-two outside a shopping centre while riding an illegal monkey bike, faces another stint behind bars over dangerous driving and attacking police.
In September 2015, Caleb Jakobsson created headlines and anger after leaving mum Andrea Lehane to die after hitting her with his monkey bike at Carrum Downs.
The Seaford man was released from jail in December 2023 only to go on a wild crime spree.
On Tuesday, Jakobsson pleaded guilty to 33 driving and drug-related offences at Melbourne Magistrates Court.
An off-duty police officer spotted Jakobsson speeding and weaving aggressively between traffic on a motorcycle in Dandenong North on May 3, 2024, before he collided with the rear of a truck.
He had no licence at the time, the bike had no registration plates and he was found to have meth in his system.
Months later on September 19, Jakobsson was spotted driving a stolen car at Frankston at speeds up to 159km/h, before he rammed a police car and sped off.
He drove to Frankston with burst tyres where he ditched the car and fled on foot before he was later arrested.
Police later found key fob programmers, a slew of drugs, an extendible baton and a breaker kit containing car keys and lock picks.
Jakobsson stole another car from a Frankston home on March 1, 2025, and when police later found him in the car at his Seaford property he climbed onto the roof to avoid arrest.
Jakobsson attacked officers trying to arrest him, including hitting one with a piece of wood.
He managed to escape by jumping over a rear fence, and was arrested eight days later
after another foot chase where he broke his ankle and threatened police screaming,
“I’m going stab you, you f — king dogs,”
Magistrate William Parker told Jakobsson he was lucky his matters were not being heard in the County Court.
“We tell driving offenders in court all the time they are so lucky they did not kill someone,” Mr Parker said.
“But this has already happened for you.”
Jakobsson’s lawyer Steve Parker told the court his client had “still not grappled” with the consequences of causing Ms Lehane’s death.
“The public would be best served if he was rehabilitated,” he said.
He submitted that Jakobsson should be sentenced to a combination sentence with jail time and a community corrections order with extensive treatment requirements.
The matter was adjourned to August 7 for sentencing.
