Daniel’s Donuts is celebrating the grand opening of its 40th store at Southern Cross Station.

From its humble beginnings as a single store in Springvale, the chain has experienced phenomenal growth, with new stores at Chirnside Park Shopping Centre and Burwood One, and more on the way at Craigieburn, Greensborough, and Sunbury.

The Sydney export, known for its crunchy-skinned chickens and tangy garlic sauce, recently opened a new restaurant in Mitcham with plans to open in Kensington, Pakenham and Bayswater North this year.

El Jannah chief executive Brett Houldin said he was excited to open in Mitcham, and believed it was a terrific market opportunity for the brand to move into new areas of Melbourne.

The popular discount supermarket recently opened new stores in Mt Waverley and Albert Park.

Chief executive Ewan Jones previously told Leader the company prided itself on offering the cheapest groceries possible to customers.

NQR offers customers the chance to save 80 per cent off the recommended retail price on big brand groceries.

Guzman y Gomez

Popular Mexican fast food chain Guzman y Gomez continues to expand across Victoria, with five new restaurants on the way in the next six months.

After recently opening in Elsternwick, next up is GYG Leopold in Geelong and GYG Moonee Ponds in July.

Schnitz

Slim's Quality Burger

Popular burger chains Oporto and Slims, a diner-style burger restaurant currently only based in Sydney, are proposed to open on the corner of Bayswater and Canterbury Rd in Bayswater North.

Maroondah Council has received a planning permit application for 340-344 Bayswater Rd and 303 Canterbury Rd.

Woolworths

A Woolworths spokesperson said it was excited about the opportunity to deliver a high quality retail and community use development at Rosanna.

The proposal includes a modern Woolworths supermarket, accompanied by a new community library and maternal child health nurse service.

“We’re in the process of finalising our design for the site and believe our plans will contribute positively to Rosanna and surrounding areas, creating hundreds of new jobs and providing a wider range of fresh produce, grocery and household items for the community,” the spokesperson said.

“We’ve worked very closely with Banyule City Council and the community to progress our design, and we look forward to commencing on site in the coming months.”
