A Red Cliffs teen who has been accused of raping and grooming a child under the age of 16 has had his case adjourned for a fourth time.
It is alleged Laurie Oliver groomed the victim between September 13 and 22, 2023, while the alleged rapes are said to have occurred on September 22.
Mr Oliver, 18, is facing five child sex charges as a result of the alleged incident.
He had his case adjourned yet again, much to the chagrin of Magistrate Michael Coghlan who said the continued adjournments were “unfair on the victim.”
“Lets not forget about the impact of these matters on victims,” Mr Coghlan continued.
Mr Oliver seemed relaxed in court on Monday as lawyers told the court a plea deal was in the offing and requested a two-week adjournment.
The accused had his bail extended and will return to court after the Easter long weekend, on April 3.
