Wodonga: Hundreds mourn alleged murder victim Duwayne Johnson

Duwayne Johnson had a contagious smile and cherished his four children before he was allegedly gunned down in Wodonga late January, a funeral service has been told.

Duwayne Johnson had a contagious smile.

The Wodonga father-of-four loved his motorbikes, afternoon drinks with mates and backyard cricket.

He was known for his “big curly hair” and his love for rugby, Cronulla Sharks.

But on January 16 he also became an alleged murder victim; gunned down outside a house party on Woodland Street, Wodonga.

That wasn’t, however, what those closest to him spoke of at his funeral on Friday.

It was the things he was good at, the people he loved and those who loved him that were celebrated.

More than 200 people attended his service as his uncle Shane spoke of his younger years.

Those in the crowd cried and laughed as they remembered the charismatic man who impacted so many.

Some of Duwayne’s Childhood photos were the breaking point for many trying to hold in tears at Johnson's funeral service.

Johnson was the father to four beautiful children, Duwayne, Judah, Esther and Destiny.

The 26-year-old’s life was cut short in the early hours of the morning after he was allegedly shot before being run down by a car.

The doting young dad leaves behind four children, the youngest of whom is just four months old.

Mr Johnson has extended family in Albury-Wodonga and Griffith, NSW.

Among the dozens of tributes for Mr Johnson — known to mates as “The Rock” — family member Marion Monaghan wrote: “As the day passes it’s getting harder … I want this to be a bad dream. How can someone just take you away like this?”

On Friday mourners dressed in Cronulla Sharks shirts and colours; exactly what they say Mr Johnson would have wanted.

Benjamin Stiler, 25, has been charged with murder following his death.
