Savage online trolls have targeted the grandparents of the baby found dead in a freezer near Albury-Wodonga on January 19.
NSW Police confirmed on Wednesday investigations were continuing after Kevin was found dead, wrapped in a blanket and plastic at the tiny town in NSW, 60km from Albury-Wodonga.
Kevin's mother Kylie Patten, 40, was arrested and released without charge on the same day the three-month-old was found.
Trolls, who have targeted Patten’s personal social media accounts, have since taken aim at her parents, Sue and Wayne Patten.
In one post trolls commented “evil woman”, while another said “scum”.
Last week Mr Patten told the Herald Sun he did not know how his grandchild had died.
“If you ever figure it out (what happened to the child), you let me know, because I don’t know yet,” he said.
It comes as his daughter and the mother of the child this week emerged on Facebook for the first time since the tragedy, creating a new profile.
In November, she posted online about her baby son: “Mummy loves you to the stars n (sic) all the way back to earth”.
While 25 weeks pregnant in July 2021, Ms Patten posted of her love for her unborn child.
“Babies (sic) heartbeat is so strong (loud) that others (loved ones) can hear it,” she wrote.
“Aww sweetheart how much I love you, I can’t wait to hear/see/know you too.”
A text message exchange between Ms Patten and Kevin’s father shortly after she found out she was pregnant suggested the two were estranged. “...up to you, your choice ... wish you all the best then bye” the father wrote.
Ms Patten responded it “wasn’t how I wished to have this discussion”.
Police are yet to determine how and when the baby died, and the results of infant autopsies can take many weeks.
Detectives have combed the ramshackle home where Ms Patten was living, seizing the freezer in which Kevin’s body was found, among other items of evidence.
Albury police found the body at 10pm after they searched a house on Church St in Corowa for the child.
Nearby residents in the sleepy town reportedly heard a harrowing scream ring out from the house during the police search.
Kevin’s grandparents own a local store in Corowa, White’s Stop N Shop in Corowa.
Nearby store owners, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “They (Wayne and Sue) are lovely people, we help them and they help us (with business matters)”.
“The whole town is behind them (Sue and Wayne). We just don’t know what happened. People want answers.”
