Elle Macpherson, the Aussie supermodel known as ‘The Body’, is radiant with happiness in a milestone year.
The age-defying beauty turns 60 in March and has returned to Australia filled with love.
“I’m so grateful for my life’s experiences and for the life I’m living today,’’ MacPherson said.
“It’s purposeful, it has great meaning for me and I laugh a lot, it’s full of love.
“I’ve been welcomed with such warmth and kindness and that touches my heart.”
MacPherson attended events for her global wellness brand WelleCo on Wednesday and will be the keynote speaker at the Australian Open’s Inspirational Series event on Thursday.
She says there’s no secret to looking and feeling her best — you simply can’t live well if you’re not well.
“I want to share my story and to remind everybody that we are all beautiful from a soul level,’’ Macpherson said at Myer Mural Hall.
“We’re born with that inner beauty. It’s not just an appearance, it’s charisma, it’s a way of being in life, a sense of vitality, your willingness to give things a go and passion for life is what makes things beautiful.
She added: “I’m so grateful that we’ve been able to create product that supports people on their wellness journey and leading their best life. It’s really important to be able to feel a sense of vitality and strength and optimism. It’s that feeling well that is so important to being your best self and living your dreams.”
Macpherson said she’s embraced ‘The Body’ nickname since the 1980s.
“It was Time Magazine that coined that phrase, a nickname I guess, way back in the 80s and it’s just something that stuck,’’ she said.
“Considering I’m in a wellness business which is about the wellbeing of the body it’s pretty apt so it’s been long-lasting and very helpful.”
Macpherson said her two sons Flynn, 26 and Cy, 21, would love to spend more time in Australia.
“They do love Australia and they still hold Australian passports and feel Australian too,’’ she said.
“It’s so beautiful to drink in all that beauty here and be home with family.
“Australia is always in my heart, I carry it with me.”
Macpherson will also attend Sunday’s men’s final at the Australian Open with Ralph Lauren.
“I’m speaking at the AO event and that’s a beautiful surprise and I’ll be seeing Evonne Goolagong Cawley and she’s celebrating her 50th anniversary of winning the grand slam so that will be incredible,’’ she said.
“Just to witness those incredible female sportswomen perform so beautifully on the global stage is exciting.”
