“I felt like the worst person on the planet and no one else had ever done anything this bad.”

Kudos to Port Adelaide star Jack Watts who spoke candidly about how his life was turned upside down after a texting scandal last year.

Then came that video of Watts snorting a white powder (not illegal) off a German fraulein’s bosoms.

Watts was back in Melbourne staying with his best mate when the texting scandal hit the headlines. He didn’t want to leave the house.

“I was pretty much on the couch breaking down in tears at random times feeling like it was never going to get any better, like I’m done for now,” Watts told The Imperfects podcast this week.

“When it is happening to you, you feel like the only person who has ever done it and you’re the only person who has ever been through something like that.”

While many a footballer flips the “I’m sorry I got caught” or the “blame the media” card, Watts owned it, no easy feat.

“That is as tough as (anything) I’ve ever gone through and it still is to be honest. It is still pretty hard to get away from and just move on completely from all of that stuff.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to have had an amazing life, but in terms of feeling down in the dumps and depressed I’ve never really understood that until that couple of weeks.

“In the end it has been the best thing that has happened to me. It probably gave me a recalibration process of who I want to be.”
