The Glamour was most definitely brought to the Grid on Wednesday night for the black tie event.

GP ambassadors Jakara Anthony and Tara Rushton had to be kept an arms length apart as their floor sweeping gowns, Anthony in metallic magic by Alin Le Kal and Rushton in tulle by red carpet king Jason Grech, as there dresses kept catching on each other.

Miss Universe Australia Daria Varlamova was voted BOG at the media wall, rocking up in an Oglialoro couture showstopper with sunnies, latex gloves and granny undies under voluminous tulle. Tick.

One fashion expert flown down from Sydney for the exclusive Tag Heur event at Canvas House on Thursday night with Red Bull riders Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez curled his lip and said “Melbourne hasn’t got the memo, cut outs are over.”

The GP certainly was hoping so, seemingly more conservative than Flemington Racecourse in its pre rec day fashion requests. Such short memories from those Grid Girl days. But all that was forgotten at the red carpet.

Seven’s Olympics golden girl Abbey Gelmi hosted the Tag Heuer event and told Page 13 she was still in shock at taking over footy duties from Jacqui Felgate who announced her shock resignation on Sunday.

“I mean you‘ve got to take it right,” Gelmi exclaimed as been parachuted into the role at the eleventh hour this week.

She will begin her on air duties on Saturday.
