Survivor runner up KJ Austin and sister, influencer Sophia Cachia are no longer on speaking terms following their stint on the Ten reality adventure series.
Their estrangement made for an interesting vibe with both attending Channel 10’s exclusive corporate marquee at Melbourne’s F1 on Friday, Austin with her Survivor contestant cohort including winner Mark Wales, his wife and Cachia’s nemesis Sam Gash, and her other frenemy Khan Ong.
Cachia attended the marquee as a guest of motorsport expert Mark Skaife’s wife Tomi.
A sibling stand off had VIP guests rubber necking from the F1 cars to the marquee media wall.
Daughters of former Fitzroy and Adelaide coach Robert Shaw, Austin told Page 13 the two fell out after leaving the show.
“At the moment we haven’t had a whole lot to do with each other, maybe it’s a sister thing,” Austin said.
“She did support me for awhile … until she didn’t.
“The reality crossed over into the game for her, but for us, look at us here, we are all great friends.
“I didn’t win. So it was really important I came out of the game with some positive memories.”
“I just want to enjoy myself.”
Austin said she cherished her time on the show but in a true blue Melburnian story spent part of the game more worried about her husband’s antics … in trade week.
Married to Carlton’s list manager Mark Austin, she was frantically trying to know from producers if he had snared Adam Cerra in the recruiting period. She got the wink and nudge he did. The Carlton family thank him for it.
Elsewhere Mark Wales said he had just days ago invoiced for his $500,000 winning pay check and was eagerly awaiting for it to drop into his bank account.
The Aperol Spritz’s were flowing, and some Blue Curacao cocktails which were staining the celebrities tongues blue, at the swanky Mercedes Benz Star Lounge.
Larrikins Daniel McPherson and Darren McMullen mixed with Melbourne socialites including Sarah Lew and easy on the eye couple model Amy Pejkovic and former Bombers midfielder David Zaharakis.
Towering Collingwood players Brodie Grundy and recently resigned defender Darcy Moore were among the AFL cohort enjoying the Heineken hospitality.
Hospitality has been full throttle with GP events including the Tag Heuer Red Bull official launch and Glamour on the Grid revving up all week, with a contingent of models and Miss Universe’s bringing the G-force.
