Melbourne’s Grand Prix party kicked off Wednesday night with hundreds of VIP guests and celebrities revving up the glamour in pit lane.
A star-studded Glamour on the Grid cocktail party at the race circuit was attended on Wednesday by the likes of GP ambassadors Kris Smith, Josh Gibson, Jakara Anthony, plus Michelle Payne, Sir Jackie Stewart, Mark Skaife, Sullivan Stapleton, Andy Lee and Rebecca Harding, Marc and Jesse Murphy, Mason Cox, David Reynolds, James Courtney, Daria Varlamova, Jock Zonfrillo, Dale Thomas, Simone Elliott, Maria Thatill, Brooke Blurton, Emily Seebohm, Morgan Mitchell, Effie Kats, Jason Grech, Lana Wilkinson and Amy Pejkovic.
Bonnie Anderson was the event’s key singer at the Marriott Bonvoy Lounge at the Paddock Club.
Grand Prix glamour girls Simone Elliott and Alex Pike were dressed to impress at the Glamour on the Grid cocktail party.
Real Housewives of Melbourne star Elliott said the single girls were ready to mingle.
“You could possibly say that,” she said.
“Looking forward to a good night.”
Pike, former partner of Collingwood footy legend Nathan Buckley, is off to America on Thursday to further her cosmetic nurse career.
“I’ve been keeping a low profile,” she said.
“I’m just focusing on work and my beautiful boys at the moment. I’m off to St. Louis, then Chicago for training with a plastic surgeon and then Beverly Hills for an anatomy course.”
Both women were standouts in gowns by Alin Le’Kal.
Also stepping out in style to kickstart the week’s celebrations were Richmond star Daniel Rioli and his DJ partner Paris Lawrence, former Bombers star David Zaharakis and his athlete partner Amy Pejkovic, Grand Prix ambassadors Jakara Anthony, Kris Smith and Josh Gibson, actor Sullivan Stapleton, stylist Lana Wilkinson, plus Miss Universe Australia Daria Varlamova who stunned in a barely there ensemble.
“My social life has picked up and we can be each others’ plus ones to events now,” Zaharakis said.
“I’m doing things you couldn’t do while playing. There’s a bit of freedom and I’m loving it.”
Pejkovic who is studying journalism is hoping to return to training after injury.
Grand Prix ambassador Smith revealed he has signed a new deal with Myer, taking his partnership with the retail giant to 14 years.
The model said: “Every new contract I sign is a surprise to me — they’ve been incredible. It’s a beautiful company to work for and the way they’ve transitioned from in store to online is a credit to them. I’m looking forward to another big year.”
Bonnie Anderson, performing at Glamour on the Grid and the national anthem on Sunday said: “It’s a different feel, there’s a lot of adrenalin involved in car racing which I love and I’ve been involved in the Grand Prix a few times now and just have the most amazing time,” she said.
“I definitely do get a bit nervous before I get on the grid.“
