Channel 7’s weekend weather presenter Sonia Marinelli has quit the network.

After three years in that role Marinelli informed bosses of her decision during the week.

“I am stepping away from my role at 7News,’’ she said.

“My husband and I have decided to make a sea-change and will be taking our four young children on an adventure up the east coast. This decision has been years in the making.

“Seven has been a wonderful home for the past four years, and I will miss my friends and colleagues here dearly, but I am ready and excited for new opportunities.

“After spending most of my TV news career talking about our weather, I’m excited to get out and actually enjoy it with those I love most.”

The skies were certainly gathering ominously around one weather presenter after Page 13 revealed two weeks ago that a change was in the wind.

The network insists it wasn’t Marinelli and it was her decision to leave.

As expected she’ll be replaced by Tyra Stowers who has filled in over summer and impressed. She will officially begin on Saturday.
