OMG. There is no future for Usher here anytime soon, with fans left shocked and upset, after the R&B megastar abruptly cancelled his headline Australian tour from November.
Ticketholders were sent a message on Friday saying his widely acclaimed USHER: Past Present Future World Tour was no longer going ahead.
It was to be the first solo tour in 14 years for the multi-platinum, 8-time Grammy Award winner, with the Australian leg of his world tour announced just in May.
“The promoter of Usher’s Australian Tour regrets to advise that the scheduled November/December shows will no longer be proceeding,” a statement from Ticketek read.
“All purchased tickets will receive a full refund. Patrons should allow approximately 30 business days for the refund to appear in their account.”
The last time Usher performed in a solo headline tour Down Under was in 2011 for his OMG Tour.
He was due to perform four shows at Rod Laver Arena, from Wednesday November 19 to Sunday November 23.
Last year the The Voice superstar singer pushed back parts of his North American tour to fully recover from a neck injury.
At the time he wrote he need to undergo more physical therapy and medical treatment.
“Unfortunately the injury has not healed yet, and my doctors have instructed me not to perform any shows this week,” he wrote in August last year.
Usher explained that he suffered the injury during rehearsals for what he calls “the greatest Usher show of all time,” and that with “appropriate rest and treatment.”
No reason has yet been given as to why he has cancelled his Australian tour.
