GOLD Logie winner Samuel Johnson very much has the Saints on his side as he continues his quest to raise $10 million for cancer research in honour of sister Connie.

Johnson and his Love Your Sister charity have joined forces with the St Kilda footy club to raise funds at today’s game against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.

“I am a year away from losing Con and I am loving the idea of celebrating her inside a stadium,” Johnson said.

“I have been a Saints fan my whole life so obviously it is personal for me, and for the charity it signifies a graduation in a sense; I mean we have our logo on a banner at the footy.”

Connie lost her long and brave cancer battle on September 8 last year.

“I am so worried that I will f--- up her legacy that I have not had a lot of time to be sentimental, so maybe I am channelling my grief through the work,” he said.

“I just don’t want to let her down and I feel that more strongly without her than I did with her.”

Johnson retired from acting last year after his award-winning portrayal of Molly Meldrum in the miniseries Molly.

“Raising this $10 million is the priority, but I never say never,” he said.

“I pretty much did Molly in the hope that it might help the charity, so if the right job came along and
I was convinced it was the right thing for the charity then I would do it, but I have no need for money or fame or any of those trappings.”

Connie’s Forever Roses will be available at the Love Your Sister pop-up outside Gate 5 at the stadium today.
