Melbourne philanthropist Patricia Ilhan has tied the knot with her partner of five years Chris Blackman.
The couple, who first met as friends almost two decades ago, wed at Port Phillip Estate on the Mornington Peninsula on Friday afternoon.
Among the 145 guests at the celebration of family, love and friendship were Dr Chantel Thornton, Maryanne Giannarelli, Kane Alexander and Kat Grollo.
However, missing from the joyous celebration was dear friend of the Ilhan family, Shane Warne.
The cricketing great, who died suddenly in Thailand on March 4, was remembered and acknowledged during the wedding service.
“We had three candles lit right next to where Chris and I were getting married,” Ilhan said.
“One of them was for Chris’s father who has passed away, the other was for my father who has passed away and the third one was for Shane because he was supposed to be there with his family and the celebrant explained to everyone, what and who the three candles represented.”
Ilhan looked stunning in a wedding gown by noted Melbourne couturier Sonia Cappellazzo.
She was walked down the aisle by her son Aydin, 15 and her bridal party included her daughters Jaida and Hannah and Blackman’s daughter Macenzi.
Ilhan and Blackman originally met as friends when their daughters Jaida and Macenzi were in three-year-old kindergarten in Brighton.
“We were just friends, he was one of the dads,” she said.
Their friendship turned to love five years ago.
“The two girls couldn’t be happier that we are together,” she said.
Following the wedding lunch guests travelled back to Ilhan’s Portsea home for the wedding party which included a fireworks display. She changed into a sparkly, fun frock by Rachel Gilbert for the event.
Glamping tents were erected in the grounds of her peninsula home for guests to stay overnight ready the post wedding lunch on Saturday.
Ilhan was previously married to mobile phone entrepreneur John Ilhan who built the ‘Crazy John empire. He died suddenly in 2007 leaving behind Ilhan and their four children, Yasmin, Hannah, Jaida, and Aydin.
