Brynne Edelsten has broken her silence on the horror of her arrest on drugs charges.

And she had spoken of being homeless and seeking refuge in crisis accommodation as her once glittering world fell apart due to a toxic relationship.

Edelsten, who is now the proud mother of a dearly loved baby daughter, always maintained she was innocent of the five charges that police laid against her in May 2021.

She was charged with trafficking, possessing, and using methamphetamine, known commonly as ice.

She was also charged with possessing a schedule 4 poison and property suspected as being the proceeds of crime.

She vowed to fight the charges and in February this year in the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court four of the five charges were struck out.

The remaining charge of using ice will be dealt with by a court diversion program in August.

Edelsten has told the 7 News Spotlight documentary The Fame Game, which airs Sunday night, of the abuse and trolling she received after the chilling charges were laid.

“I was getting emails from people calling me a filthy drug w----, and to go kill myself,” Edelsten told Spotlight.

“And just other people saying, ‘My son’s still locked up and of course you get off because you’re a celebrity,’ and it doesn’t matter if it’s true or not, people have that judgment.

“I had gone to visit a friend. I had stepped three feet onto his front lawn and all of a sudden we were being raided.

“I knew I had nothing to worry about, I didn’t have any drugs, I didn’t do anything wrong. But I was charged with all these things.”

Life has not been easy for Edelsten since she divorced the now deceased Geoffrey Edelsten in 2014 after five years of marriage.

She has experienced homelessness, troubled and dysfunctional relationships, bankruptcy and at one stage lived in crisis accommodation for several months.

She is raising her daughter as a single mother.

“I haven’t probably had the best relationships since then, and there’s been domestic violence,” she said.

“There’s been at one point,(I was) left homeless and (had) gone into crisis accommodation because I had to, because… that person kept showing up where my friends lived and (my) friends had children.

“That was really hard, but I’m just so grateful for the organisations and charities that do that because having a few months in crisis accommodation, that actually gave me that time to actually step back and see things for what they were.

“I had no sense of self-worth at that time.”

She said the support of the organisation that provided her crisis accommodation gave her the chance “to actually rebuild myself and love myself again and be able to get back on my own two feet.”

7 News Spotlight: The Fame Game airs Sunday at 8.50pm on Channel 7 and 7plus.
