Bec Judd to join celebrity set in Byron Bay as she celebrates post-lockdown freedom

Businesswoman and busy mum Bec Judd is stepping back from all her regular media commitments to head north.

Judd and her family will be heading to ‘Hollywood by the beach’ this week for a brief summer break before welcoming her wider Perth-based family to Melbourne for Christmas.

But Byron Bay is only the start of Judd family’s travels over the coming months.

Judd said she planned to celebrate freedom in 2021 and see Australia with her family after both she and her husband Chris stepped back from their regular media commitments.

“It was a family decision for both of us to step back,” she said at a lunch for Bird In Hand wines at The Stokehouse.

“We have no commitments in Melbourne (in 2021).

“It will be nice to have a bit of freedom next year.

“What COVID-19 has taught us is that we can do the majority of our work from anywhere.

“We have family all over (the country) and the ability to travel within Australia and still work while doing it.

We are going to see Australia.”

Judd said she was not ruling out a return to media in the future.

“It might not be forever, and I am sure there is some media in my future, but we just want, while we can, to have a year off,” she said.

“COVID-19 has taught us a lot this year and we want some freedom and to spend time with family before we send off our babies to proper school.”

Judd said her secret weapon for getting through the COVID-19 lockdown was her favourite Bird In Hand tipple.

“This is what got me through lockdown - Bird in Hand Rose Fridays,” she said.

“It was the only night I would drink during lockdown.

“I was super fit during the week and then on Friday at 3.01pm as soon as Zoom learning was over I would open a bottle of Rose and enjoy a glass.”
