Bec Judd says she is stepping away from her media role to spend more time with her family.

Judd said she and husband, former footy champion Chris Judd, used the time through the COVID-19 lockdown to re-evaluate their lives.

She is stepping away from KIIS FM’s 3pm Pick Up and Chris will no longer be part of Triple M footy’s commentary team.

“It’s been one of those years, a COVID year, where we’ve spent so much time at home and as a family we’ve just really re-prioritised what we’re doing,’’ she told the 3pm Pick Up on Monday.

“This is the first time since Chris finished football which would have been back in 2015 that we haven’t had any commitments … and this year has taught us that we just want to take a step back and not really have those weekly commitments.

“He’s not doing radio anymore, I’m not doing radio anymore, we’ve got a lot of freedom in our schedule and we’re very lucky to have that.”

Judd said she wanted to spend more time with her four children, Oscar, Billie and twins Tom and Darcy.

She will be replaced on the 3pm Pick Up by Kate Langbroek, who returns from Italy to join Monty Dimond and Yumi Stynes from January.

“I’ve got such a young family, my twins start at school, not next year but the year after,’’ Judd said.

“I’ve got one year left at home with them and we just really want to as a family really make the most of those golden years because they’re slipping away those golden years.

“It was something that we’ve spoken about for a long time, my husband and I, but it’s been one of those years where you just really re-evaluate your life — where you’re going, what you’re doing and we’ve seen so many big changes in lots of people lives. And this is ours.

“It might not be forever but so looking forward to having a bit of a different year next year, at home and enjoying that family time.”
