Controversial celebrity chef Pete Evans has quit social media after the heavy fallout from his latest indisrection.
After a week that included being dumped by Network 10 and a raft of brands and retailers, he said it was not the end but a new transition as he directed followers to his website where he will not be “censored ever again”.
“To all the amazing fb community we have built over the years.. yes the 1.5 million of you,’’ he wrote on Facebook.
“For me it is time to say goodbye to this platform and thank you all for sharing your stories of beautiful health transformations and for giving me a bloody good laugh and cry along the way.
“Get your popcorn out as this is not the end, however, just a beautiful new transition into a space of love, education, knowledge and not being censored ever again.
“You are all welcome to explore and connect.”
Evans also directed people to his Evolve network, saying there was “much in store for 2021 that will continue the evolution of long term sustainable health for humanity and the planet.” He also wrote that he still planned to open his health retreat in February.
On Wednesday, he thanked his friends and colleagues for their support amid the backlash after he posted a black sun neo-Nazi symbol.
The former My Kitchen Rules judge was dumped by Network 10 from I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! before filming commenced on Tuesday amid the outcry.
“What a fascinating journey,” the 47-year-old wrote on Wednesday, beside an illustration of a rainbow-coloured hand displaying the peace sign.
“Sending a huge thank you to all my friends and colleagues who have shown their support for me over the years in our different business ventures and partnerships.
“I wish you all the very best on your journey forwards in all your endeavours and hope that you continue your ongoing success.”
Evans also re-posted an eerie link about ‘death’ to his Instagram stories. The post was originally uploaded by physician Zach Bush MD, who was recently interviewed by Evans on his Evolve podcast.
On Tuesday, Evans claimed he had to google what neo-Nazi meant.
Speaking in a video posted to social media after he emerged from quarantine, the COVID conspiracy theorist said he had been inaccurately labelled a racist and neo-Nazi.
“Just when you thought 2020 couldn’t get any more bizarre the mainstream media have come out and labelled me a racist and a neo-Nazi,’’ Evans said.
“The fact that I had to google what neo-Nazi meant is pretty telling.
“So I just want to tell you this once and one time only, it is completely untrue, unfactual and a load of garbage. I could actually say a few more words about it but I won’t.
“Anybody who knows me knows I stand for long term sustainable health for all humanity. I don’t think there’s anything else I need to say except for peace, love to you all.”
He apologised for posts which cost him a publishing deal with Pan MacMillan, but it was the final straw for others, including Coles and Woolworths, who axed him.
