Fashion Critical rates and slates Oscars red carpet fashion
There was one Oscars red carpet look that was slammed by fashionistas, but our very own internet style slayer Fashion Critical is a fan of “sequins, jewels and mounds of tulle jammed through the Janome”. Here are the best frocks and shocks from the Academy Awards.

Your favourite style slayer Fashion Critical is back and ready to rate and slate the Oscars red carpet for your entertainment.
BILLIE EILISH: Chanel has just released its Halloween 2020 range. Get in early to avoid disappointment.
SANDRA OH: This has been maligned as one of the Worst Dressed of the night but I disagree! I say, if you’re going to pull out all the stops – you may as well do it at the Academy awards. Sequins, jewels and mounds of tulle JAMMED through the Janome. Why not? I think she looks glam.
CYNTHIA ERIVO: I would really have loved this dress without all the bedazzling. I think the cut speaks for itself. I don’t care for the shoes or the rings, but she looks like a million dollars.
JANELLE MONAE: Joan of Arc called and needs her chain mail back.
NATALIE PORTMAN: I am LOVING THIS to bits from Natalie Portman. She looks regal AF. I adore everything about this from the tips of her finger nails to the top of her gorgeous head.
KRISTEN WIIG: When you’re under da sea at 6:00pm and on the red carpet at 6:05pm.
SAOIRSE RONAN: The stylist was torn between a magnificent black and gold frock and some hotel curtains from 1974. When in doubt, simply mix and match.
MAYA RUDOLPH: I think this is pretty good for Maya Rudolph who hasn’t historically dazzled me on the red carpet. It’s glamorous and cosy looking to boot!
OLIVIA COLMAN: Star Trek’s winter collection has just hit the runways.
RENEE ZELLWEGER: Ugggh this is sickeningly perfect on Renee, isn’t it? So simple, so beautiful. I adore this. She’s a vision.
GAL GADOT: When you get to Spotlight five minutes before closing and have to make do with what’s left in the bargain bin. Absolutely horrendous. Who okayed this?
SALMA HAYEK: This is different for Selma and I daresay lovely. She looks like a Greek Goddess and I for one am here for it.
