Logies red carpet: Fashion Critical reviews best and worst dresses
From a gown that looked like a 1500 thread sheet set to a “smoking” architectural masterpiece, fashion blogger Fashion Critical critiques what TV stars wore to the Logie Awards.
Logies
Don't miss out on the headlines from Logies. Followed categories will be added to My News.
The Logie Awards. Long dubbed Australian television’s night of nights.
But after Gold Logie winner Tom Gleeson’s stunning takedown speech last night it may never be the same again.
So sit back and enjoy this sassy wrap from famed anonymous fashion blogger Fashion Critical as they wrap who wore what - and how well or badly they wore it - on the Gold Coast red carpet.
It’s the sauciest Logies critique you’ll read today.
Sophie Monk
I love Sophie as much as the next girl (and guy). Isn’t she the cats meow?
But this is an ABOMINATION. They say that the only thing necessary for the triumph of bad fashion is for good men (and women) to simply STAND BY AND DO NOTHING.
I won’t stand by! I will say NO! Whoever put this lovely lass into this ghastly monstrosity with matching shoes needs to take a good, hard look at themselves.
Amanda Keller
God bless Mandy Keller. She is a dead-set national treasure. I won’t hear anyone say a bad word about her, OR her choice of frock. Her hair and makeup are exceptional.
I feel like maybe the designer forgot to line the ‘BEWB’ region though. All I see is a couple of entree plates hiding in plain sight.
Sonia Kruger
Ol’ Sonny is always such a wall flower isn’t she? I just wish she’d take some risks. Try a bit of colour, or shimmer. Maybe a daring leg split, or perhaps even a peek at her undies.
But no. She’s played it safe once again.
Delta Goodrem
I really love this little frock from Delta. But it seems somehow under done.
She looks at least eleventy times more formal every time she steps out to judge an episode of the voice.
That said, this is beautiful and understated. Gorgeous hair and makeup, great shoes, beautiful nails and minimal accessories.
Can’t really fault it. Good on ya Delts.
Elizabeth from MAFS – not sure of her actual name
Well if it isn’t Lizzie from MAFS fame – and she’s ALL GROWN UP!!
In ways, I’m deeply disappointed that she’s not wearing her trackies, crazy muppet jacket and giant sunglasses. How I long for the heady good old days.
This is a lovely white frock and I daresay she looks elegant and understated.
SUCK ON EGGS SAM, YA BIG POTATO.
Kelly Rowland
And let it surprise precisely nobody that the only genuine A-lister at this shindig has walked away with the red carpet Best on Ground. Kelly Rowland looks absolutely SMOKING.
The dress is an architectural MASTERPIECE. And I adore her soft waves and red lip and silvery hologram shoes. 10/10!
Olivia Someone – I forget her name
This poppet has pulled out a few doozies over the year and I’m very pleased to say she’s left her grim sartorial past behind her and NAILED THIS straight to the wall.
This frock is beautiful and classic, yet like nothing we’ve seen before.
It’s got a touch of Bollywood about it. Minimal jewels and hair finish this beautiful look off, which would not be out of place at the Oscars.
Designer and stylist, I applaud you.
Sam Frost
This is a different look for Sammy. I have something similar from Cue, purchased in 1997.
This is very much reminding me of the girls in Robert Palmer’s Simply Irresistible music video, and in the words of Tam from MAFS, “I’m all about it.”
Sylvia Jeffreys
This is a very pretty frock, but it seems a little under done for the Logies.
The dress should scream evening wear, but somehow squeaks “Lunch with Mum” instead.
Maybe we needed more from the hair and should have done away with the belt?
She does look classy though, and when you check out the Logies sponsors – Kettle Chips, Nescafe Gold instant coffee and Snooze (the bed shop), you know you’ve come to the right place.
Deborah Knight and Georgie Gardiner
Manchester, level 3! It’s nice to see Deborah Knight supporting Sheridan sheets’ foray into formal wear.
I believe this is the super-king, 1500 thread count, Egyptian cotton sateen sheet set in “lilac haze”.
How tremendous does her decolletage look though?
I love that she’s stayed away from any major jewellery and let the sheets speak for themselves.
Meanwhile, Georgie girl is rocking a lovely white frock, which seems to be a little big on her.
Like when you raid mum’s wardrobe and play dress ups and walk around with the sleeves dragging on the floor.
I love the draping, though I would have avoided the white shoe – it’s a bit too much of a white out for me. Love her hair.
