Billy Brownless says the chance to give up the grog and lose some weight was too good to refuse.
The larrikin broadcaster and former Geelong forward is fearful of spewing, but hopes to emerge leaner from the jungle and a stint on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
“I thought hang on, this might be a good opportunity to have a month off the drink,’’ Brownless said.
“So the main reason I did it was to get off the grog. And I’ve been looking for an opportunity to get time off.
“I’ve tried a few diets and I go to the gym and nothing works.
“I might find myself, I might find love. There might be a rumble in the jungle, you never know.”
Brownless said the food challenges will scare him most.
“I think that’s my biggest worry. I’m a very basic simple man and I like a steak and three veg. The prospect of eating crocodile balls is not good.

“I can put up with a snake and a spider..... I can’t remember the last time I had a spew but this might be it.”
The father of four also said he was prepared to open up and expects to be asked about his falling out with best friend Garry Lyon.
“That was four years ago, we’re in a good spot,’’ he said.
“It takes a while but we’ve all moved on and I’m aware they’ll probably ask me about it.”
He added: “No phone, no news and no kids. I love getting a coffee in the morning and sitting down reading the newspaper. Having so much time on your hands, it will be interesting.”
