After having his Triple M radio show shafted, former Footy Show larrikin Billy Brownless is packing his bags, having signed a secret deal to go bush for reality TV.

The Geelong favourite is understood to have agreed to confront his fears for a jungle adventure and is soon bound for South Africa to take part in Channel 10’s I’m A Celebrity …. Get Me Out Of Here!

The long-time star of The Footy Show has a pared-down commitment to that franchise these days, only appearing on the Sunday version of show which airs during the AFL season.

Likewise his Triple M Rush Hour show airs across the footy season, meaning his schedule is free for a few weeks of deprivation in the jungle in January and February.

In one of the more curious decisions in radio in recent weeks, Triple M has moved Rush Hour — which Brownless hosts with James Brayshaw from its mid-afternoon spot to the early evening shift of 6pm-7pm in 2020.

The show’s airtime has also been halved from two hours to one.

The later shift would seem, at face value, to work against the show’s core fan base of tradies and shift workers who would normally be on the road and tuned in when the program aired mid-afternoon.

Brownless, 52, is also part of Triple M’s footy commentary team.

Other names rumoured to be part of the 2020 series of I’m A Celebrity are Dale Thomas, Carrie Bickmore, Rhonda Burchmore, Cosentino, Tom Williams, Erin Barnett, Craig Bennett and Dilruk Jayasinha.

Chef Miguel Maestre has already been confirmed by 10 as taking part.

Brownless did not return calls yesterday and Channel 10 simply said it welcomed speculation about the Celebrity contenders when asked if the big cat was part of the cast.
