Australia’s darling of the big screen Margot Robbie has recounted her Logies night horror as a fledgling soapy star, revealing she passed out in the toilets in Melbourne at TV’s night of nights.
Robbie has described the Australian version of the Emmy’s as “just a big piss-up” where everyone “gets absolutely hammered”.
“I got so drunk, I passed out,” Robbie admitted.
The former Neighbours star, 29, who is nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe for her role in the film Bombshell, admitted she hit the booze hard at her most recent Logies night appearance 10 years ago.
“The Logies are the funnest award shows ever,” Robbie told US talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.
“I haven’t been for a decade now. But when I was 18 and it was the first one I went to, I mean it is like the wild west.
“They are just a big piss-up. Everyone just gets absolutely hammered.”
Robbie was 19 when she attended her second Logies, which were then held in Melbourne.
“The second year I went, I got so drunk I passed out,” she said in a surprise admission of overindulgence.
“I passed out in one of the toilet stalls and I woke up and I came out and it happened to be the one hour that the (venue) closes to be cleaned.
“It was such a weird, surreal experience because there was no one around.
“For a second, in my drunken state, I was like, ‘Did I die? Is this purgatory? Am I in between heaven and hell right now?’
“Eventually I found someone who was cleaning and they were like, ‘What are you doing in here?’ I was like, ‘What time is it? I have to be at work’.”
