Maddie Garrick reveals new flame following split from Sophie Cachia

Sophie Cachia’s ex has moved to hose down rumours of a new fling a day after posting a provocative snap with a fellow basketballer.

After appearing to move on with a new girlfriend, basketballer Maddie Garrick says her provocative post was just a tease.

Almost five months after a shock split from fiancee Sophie Cachia, Italy based Garrick strongly hinted on Instagram that she was now seeing a teammate.

But on Thursday she posted a picture with Matea Atanasovska to her stories: “FYI.. we are not dating.” along with the hashtags just a tourist photo and my tourist photographer.

Garrick had uploaded a picture to Instagram on Tuesday night looking back at the camera while holding the hand of Matea Atanasovska.

Garrick moved to Italy last year to play for Polisportiva A.Galli Basket and hasn’t commented since businesswoman and mum of two Cachia announced the separation in late October.

She featured in images with the same woman in February, with the pair pictured together in Rome.

Garrick commented “we cute” on the latest image tagged at the Vatican with many followers thinking it was a soft launch and leaving love hearts or well wishes that they’re happy for her.

Atanasovska, who was born in North Macedonia and recently celebrated her 21st birthday, commented “wow baby” with a love heart and arrow emoji.

Cachia has spoken about her grief since the break up and alluded to a betrayal of trust.

She said she couldn’t eat or sleep for days after she returned home from a trip to Italy and the subsequent split.

“It was the shock of my life, it came out of nowhere,’’ she told the Herald Sun.

“I was there and I felt things were not right. I am a very fluid open-minded person, that means honesty and communication.”

Cachia has two children from her marriage to Jaryd Cachia and had been engaged to basketballer Garrick since March last year.

Cachia, who runs a successful pyjama brand among other flourishing businesses, said she is happily dating and feels content, but shut the door on any chance of a reconciliation.

In January she made the shock confession she was hoping to have a baby with Garrick.

Since then she has announced the upcoming release of her second book, Then There Was You, and has had many candid conversations on her new Mamamia podcast, Her, about her sex life and why relationships between women are easier.
