Sophie Cachia has opened up about the pain of her split from Maddie Garrick, saying she feels humiliated.
Cachia posted a picture her five year-old daughter Florence made, with the young girl’s comment: “safety feels like a flower to me”.
After her shock separation from her basketballer fiancée, who is now living in Florence, Cachia added that she would find it hard to trust people again.
“A lot of lessons, but mostly how blessed I am with such a supportive, close-knit family & friend support system,” she wrote on social media.
“I’m at a point in my life where I’m SICK TO DEATH of people needing to be there for me. “We’re here for you” they say, and I’m angry.
“Not for their want to help me, but for yet another reason I need them to. It’s humiliating. It’s embarrassing.
“I didn’t ask for this. I don’t want to be here. 2 weeks ago I was travelling the world, the happiest I’ve felt in my life for so many years. I was oblivious. I just want happiness and a content life.
“I want a life filled with love & family. I don’t want to fear love & commitment. I don’t want to not believe in anyone ever again or have trust issues. I don’t want to be petrified to let anyone near my children ever again. I want happiness.”
Meanwhile, Cachia’s close friends have pointed the finger at her fiancee Maddie Garrick for the pair’s shock split
Cachia, businesswoman, author and mum of two, posted on social media on Sunday night that with sadness and pain, she made the decision to end their relationship.
Just last week she was in Italy with Garrick where she relocated to play basketball with a local Florence team.
Cachia’s inner circle say the sleepwear entrepreneur “provided everything for Maddie in life” so she could chase her sporting dreams.
Cachia alluded to a break of trust in their relationship with friends suggesting a third party may have been involved.
Only last week Garrick posted pictures of the pair in Italy, thanking Cachia “for coming and everything you do x”.
The pair got engaged in March with Cachia sharing a heartfelt tribute recently about their long distance relationship.
Upon her return to Melbourne, she curiously posted to her Instagram stories in between the launch of her new range of Cachia pyjamas: “It is with sadness and a great deal of pain that I have unfortunately made the decision to end my relationship.
“When I proposed, I did it with the guarantee of loyalty, trust, honesty & respect from my end.
“Despite the great deal of love I still hold, I have made this decision to lead by example for what I know I deserve in life for myself, and for my children - because we are all worthy.
“While I am hurting, life must go on. I still have to show up for work with my businesses and most importantly be a mum and role model to my two children.
“This is unfortunately a position I really didn’t want to be in. Therefore, I beg you, please let me be, to protect my children, my mental health and allow us all to heal and move forward.
“I will not be commenting any further. Soph.”
After Cachia’s announcement went live Garrick later posted footage of her basketball game with Polisportiva A.Galli Basket, but has not yet referenced the break up.
Cachia shares two young children, Bobby and Florence, with her ex-husband Jaryd Cachia. Garrick had become a doting step mum to them and was often seen with them on social media.
Last month the basketball coach posted a loving tribute to Cachia on her 32nd birthday.
In her own post, Cachia, who has appeared on Australian Survivor, alluded to her feelings of loneliness.
“You are the most caring and loving soul,’’ Garrick, 30, began. “I am so proud of what you have achieved and continue to achieve, all while you are the best super mum to your kids. I miss you so much and am sad I can’t be there to celebrate the wonderful person that you are, but no matter the distance, I love you so much!”
Ahead of Garrick’s departure in August, Cachia wrote about how much her partner would be missed.
“When I named my daughter Florence, it was because it’s my favourite city in the world,’’ Cachia wrote.
“With our strong beliefs on how the universe works in this magical world, you now moving to Florence further cements the fact that you always were, part of my story.
“My children find a comfort and trust in you that makes me certain I’ve done something right in life - and that... is you. Sad, of course. But so excited for you to fulfil a lifetime dream of yours.”
Cachia separated from her husband in 2019 and then began dating women for the first time. She went public with Garrick in 2021.
