Sophie Cachia reveals she was planning to have baby with her ex-fiancee Maddie Garrick

In a bombshell confession, Sophie Cachia has revealed she and her ex-fiancee Maddie Garrick had undergone “extensive” preparations to have a baby this month.

Sophie Cachia has made the shock confession she was due to have a baby with her ex-fiancee Maddie Garrick.

The businesswoman revealed that she and Garrick, who split in October, had been on a waiting list for a sperm donor for nine months.

“I was supposed to be getting pregnant in January,’’ she said on the day one of the Australian Open as a guest of Emirates.

“We’d done the whole sperm donation, the waiting list. Pretty much now I’m at the top of the list. That was a huge part of it too, you’re planning and there’s extensive counselling and testing and you’ve got to tick all these boxes and then you go on a waitlist … to get so close and then have that (split) happen, it not only affects my relationship but it affects my future being a mum as well.

Maddie Garrick and Sophie Cachia, who split in October, had been on a waiting list for a sperm donor for nine months.

“It’s such a big process to go through now for it to be taken away from me.

“I can make my own choices but it’s scary too. I love love and I love falling in love, I love sharing my life with someone. But at the same time I would love to have one, two, three more babies.

“I’m very blessed to be able to do it on my own. The kids ask me every day when can we have a sibling. I don’t want it to sound really malicious towards Maddie, you get to a point in your life in a straight relationship too, where the relationship ends and it’s very difficult.”

Cachia has two children from her marriage to Jaryd Cachia and had been engaged to basketballer Garrick, who relocated to play in Italy, since March.

She suddenly announced the romance was over following a visit to Italy, and alluded to a betrayal of trust.

Speaking candidly she said there was no chance of a reconciliation.

“It was the shock of my life, it came out of nowhere,’’ she said.

“I was there and I felt things were not right. I am a very fluid open-minded person, that means honesty and communication.”

Sophie Cachia said there was no chance of a reconciliation with Maddie Garrick.

She added: “We’ve touched base, she’s chatted to the kids for Christmas. When there’s kids involved you’ve got to put them first and she was clearly an integral part of their life. The kids are well aware of everything. Flossy lost a tooth and she said ‘can I ring Maddie and tell her’ and I said no worries. But I don’t have any plans to open communication with her.”

Cachia, 32, said she is happily dating and feels content, but she is not dating every female she’s seen with.

“People need to be very careful with their assumptions,’’ she said.

“Every female I’m seen with is not a girlfriend.”
