Alex Fevola has expressed frustration and concern about the “derogatory” way people refer to her daughter Mia’s personal life.
Fevola said it’s disappointing how Mia is tagged as a serial dater of footballers.
Recently, she was linked to Sorrento businessman Daniel Grant, who plays for the Sorrento Sharks.
“It’s the insinuation,’’ Fevola said.
“He’s a friend and he’s not a footballer. It’s so derogatory — the terminology used and the inference to it.
“Why is there the want to portray it that way and to belittle someone?”
Mia, 22, is a popular make-up artist working at Runway Room in Sorrento.
She has more than 150,000 followers on Instagram, her own YouTube channel and a clothing business called Mallt Collective.
Last year Mia’s father Brendan hit out at trolls targeting Mia after it was confirmed she was in a relationship with Bulldogs forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan.
She had previously dated Richmond’s Daniel Rioli.
Former AFL star Fevola said it was hurtful to see the pile on and intent to “slut-shame”, when men can do whatever they want.
Alex and Mia, who just returned from a holiday with friends in Bali, stepped out last week to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Alex’s cosmetics business Runway Room.
Mia started as a teenager in the salons cleaning chairs and brushes for the make up artists.
“I can’t believe it’s been 10 years, it’s gone so quick,’’ Mia said.
“Mum has the strongest work ethic I know of anyone. Any that I have has come from her.”
